A Warm Welcome to the Cyber

In keeping with the Gaelic welcome, the photo above is a glimpse of my favorite part of Scotland: the hauntingly beautiful far north. The day I took this photo was a joyous one, but as you may be able to tell from my other Scottish photos, for a card-carrying Scotophile like myself, such joy begins the instant you board that next Glasgow-bound plane. The thrill of landing in Scotland is too great to put into words. And don't get me started on the pleasure of breathing in all that soft, Highland air. It's an elixir, I'm convinced. As is peat smoke on a chill autumn afternoon. The skirl of pipes and men in kilts. Haggis and real ale. Suffice it to say, when there, the pulse-pounding exhilaration continues all during your stay, only to whip around to break your heart when it is time to leave. A pattern that repeats itself no matter how often you visit.
Scotland's pull is just that deep. Its magic, that powerful.
A world of mist, heather, and hills, Scotland's beauty is wild and awe-inspiring. A land to take your breath and claim your soul, it's also a place steeped in legend, lore, and ancient tradition. Scotland's medieval period was especially rich in this way and it is within this exciting age that I set my books. A time of fierce and proud warriors and the courageous women who loved them. An age when loyalty and honor meant everything. And, too, when Highland magic abounded. (although I will be the first to tell you that it still exists ... and, yes, I have reason to believe)
In the pages of this website, you'll be able to explore this special world that I love so much. My books are all here, but so are actual glimpses into their world. Photos I've taken that will show you each books' setting, the inspiration behind certain story elements, and much more. Click the "INSIDE" button to see these "Special Tidbits." Or just browse every page - each one has beautiful * photos of Scotland as I know and love it.
Highland Blessings!
* To see even more of the Scotland I love, take a peek at my "Allie Mackay" website: www.alliemackay.com My Scottish-paranormal-writing alter ego is just as wild about Scotland as I am, so the photos she takes of "her Scotland" showcase places dear to us both.

Scotland is a wild and beautiful place and
few such places conjure the soul of the medieval Highlands as magnificently
as the loch-girt ruins of Lochindorb Castle - the one-time stronghold of
Alexander Stewart, the incomparable Wolf of Badenoch. Like my unflagging
appreciation of bright blue Highland days, the Wolf's favoured lair and
all it represents is forever engraved on my heart. (I took this photo after spending an incredibly wondrous summer
afternoon at Lochindorb - To learn more about this special place and
other such dear-to-me Scottish locales, be sure to visit my "Highland
